It's a little late of an up date, but I guess better than never. So we finally went to the doctor to figured out what was wrong with Beau. We were hesitant in going to the doctor since we don't have insurance, but we figured six weeks is way too long to have a persistant cough that wasn't getting better in the slightest. So March 23rd we went to the doctor and they gave him a Z-pac (azithromycin) for bronchitis, and an inhaler for temporary asthma. well that started to treat the cough in a couple days, but by that Thursday the 25th Beau started to feel a little swollen. He didn't think anything of it, he just thought since he couldn't do anything physical for the last six weeks it was a little extra weight.
Well the following Tuesday he was feeling more than just bloated, so we called the doctor the next Wednesday and explained to the nurse what was going on. She said it could be a rare side affect to the Z-pac, but they wanted to see him the next day. So we were off to the doctor again, April 3rd. And sure enough..rare side affect. He had gained almost 20LBS in 10 days!!!! Can you believe it, because of the meds! Of course Beau reacts that way! He can't just be done with the cough...has to be difficult :0)
The doctor ordered a x-ray and blood work up to make sure his kidneys and all organs are working and it's not something more than an allergic reaction. so off we go...slowly walking (since Beau wasn't able to move much without getting winded)...to the x-ray area in the office. got that done, and went to fill the prescription for water retention! (All he can wear it this point is sweats because none of his clothes fit because he's so bloated). Let me tell you, it was an interesting Easter. Making sure his feet were up to limit the swelling, but of course it was not comfortable.
Finally the pills started to do their work by monday April 5th. We had to go back to the doctor the 6th to go over the x-rays and blood work. Fortunately his blood work all came back normal, but the x-ray did tell us that his heart has been doing too much work, and the doctor wanted him to start taking blood thinners to lessen the stress on his heart. I guess his heart hasn't been able to pump out blood efficiently, and over time has gotten larger. Creating congestive heart failure (not as scary as it sounds), it just means his heart has been over worked, but since the doctor caught it early, it is very easy to treat and he wasn't worried.
So fortunately, Beau is back to NORMAL! Health wise anyway ;0)
He can walk without having to stop and catch his breath every 15 feet (no exaggeration), he can move and work around the house again, and his clothes are getting baggy on him. Maybe i should take some of his water pills too ;0)
Now if we could only learn what God is teaching us about jobs and financial situations. My prayer is that we will both get jobs this month that will get us insurance and we can begin the family we feel we are ready to start. Please Lord. Thank you for bringing Beau into good health again. amen.
